It doesn’t matter if you are planning to start a flower garden or you have a flower garden you will eventually need to know when your flower gardening dies down. This is because all plants have a life cycle and each phase of that life cycle is marked by its seasonal deaths and rebirths. As a gardener you need to be aware of this and know when to just give up and move on or start planning for the next season. So lets talk about some ways that we can better understand the life cycle of flowers and how we can better plan for blooming of our flower garden.
The first season of a flower’s blooming is called the bloom period, and the more times a flower blooms the longer it will last during that season. This is usually from one to three weeks. Flower bulbs are said to bloom at this time because the pollen has fully set, which means it has already sent out its fragrance.
Flowering time is then thought to occur during the late summer and early fall for most flowers. This is also the time when insects such as aphids and red spider mites are mostly found. So during this season the flower buds are showing their beautiful colours usually in the colours of red, orange, yellow and pink. A lot of gardeners feel that spring is the best time for flower gardening, since flowers are just starting to bloom and it is during this time when they are in their new and gorgeous colours.
Spring is considered as the main season for flower growth and the flowering of flowers. There are however other times too when flowers would flower during spring such as summer, but these blooms are shorter in duration. Some flowers such as daffodils and daisies will bloom during autumn but they will usually not flower for another four years.
Every plant has a certain period of time in which it blooms. It is during this time that you will know if your flower plants are blooming or not. A flower bud should first start to open before the flowers will actually bloom. Most flowers will show their colour before the flowers themselves open, such as blue colour roses before their petals open. You should also see if the plant feels heavy or not.
A good watering is necessary to ensure healthy flowers. If the soil is not completely dried out after watering then the roots will remain under water. The roots of the plant will therefore go through the water and get into the root system of the plant. This can cause serious problems on the plant, such as root rot, fungus and aphids. Once the flowers have opened, you need to remove them from the plant immediately to prevent any diseases from spreading.
Flowers do not like being kept in high temperatures. This is why it is advisable to place the plant somewhere that has a lot of shade. Watering the flower daily at the correct time is important to keep it healthy. If you do not do this, the plant may suffer from wilting, meaning that the flowers will not open.
When the weather is cold, it is a good idea to fertilize the plant every day, even when the flowers are not in bloom. Fertilizing the plant is important because the leaves will become covered in calcium when they start to shed, which means that the plant will become more brittle. Before you buy your flowers, check whether they have already been fertilized or not.
